What do you Eat? – Only two Servings a Week will Protect you From Breast Cancer
Only two servings of fatty fish a week will protect you against breast cancer. The latest research has shown that by consuming salmon twice a week you can decrease the risk of developing breast cancer by 14 percent.
A Chinese study published in the British Medical Journal has shown that 2 servings of fatty fish, such as salmon, can decrease the risk of breast cancer.
Fatty fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. These fats are essential for brain development and cardiovascular system, and they also fight off any inflammation that affects these systems.
Unfortunately, statistics has shown that even in well-developed countries like the UK, 9 out of 10 children and 65% of the adults never eat fatty fish. What is even worse, the body cannot produce omega-3 fats.
Researchers analyzed 26 studies conducted in Asia, the US and Europe. Their research involved 80,000 participants and more than 20,000 were diagnosed with breast cancer.
The results have also shown that only 0.1 percent more energy or additional 0.1 gram per day obtained from omega-3s already reduces the risk of cancer by 5 percent.
Women should eat at least 2 servings of fatty fish like herring, salmon, tuna, sardines or mackerel per week, and each portion should be about 140 grams. White fish like cod is also good, but it is not as rich in omega-3 fats as fatty fish.
Women in Asia have the lowest risk of developing breast cancer, because they eat fish quite often.
Women who eat healthy foods are a lot thinner, and healthy diet provides an excellent prevention against breast cancer.
