Medical Experts Warn: Stop Using Aluminum Foil to Prevent Many Life-Threatening Conditions
We all use aluminum foil for food wrapping or cooking. However, a recent study has shown that this kitchen staple can cause various health issues, and what worse, its effects are long lasting.
Aluminum has a negative effect on the function of the brain as it is a neurotoxic heavy metal.
Additionally, this metal has been linked to the increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease, and the exposure to this metal leads to a mental decline. Experts have also found that this metal causes loss of balance, memory, coordination, and bodily control.
Researchers have confirmed that cooking with aluminum foil might lead to bone disorders, as aluminum might accumulate in the bones, draw calcium out, and cause a deficiency of this mineral.
Experts also maintain that cooking with aluminum foil is related to the increased risk of pulmonary fibrosis and numerous other respiratory disorders, as the inhalation of aluminum particles leads to respiratory conditions.
The foil leaves pieces of this metal into the food when it is exposed to high temperatures. Moreover, if you spice the food or add salt, you might provoke leaching of the metal.
Dr. Essam Zubaidy, the chemical engineering researcher at the American University of Sharjah, also warns about the use of aluminum foil in cooking, especially not in the case of some vegetables, such as tomatoes, citrus juices, and spices.
He examined the effects of aluminum on cooking and found that foods which have been cooked with aluminum foil could contain even 400mg of the metal, and the recommended daily amount of this metal, according to the World Health Organization is 60mg.
